WHEN her cousin was diagnosed with a terminal Brain Tumour, Jade Maw wanted to do something to help.

And she has roped in nine of her friends to help her raise as much money as she can towards a trip of a lifetime for her cousin Lyndsey Roughton.

Jade, and her friends will walk  around 20 miles from Basingstoke to Andover on Monday, 16 July.

The 17-year-old student,  said: “My friends and I were trying to think of a way to do some fundraising to get some money towards helping my cousin and my friend Lennox came up with the idea.”

The group of friends are aged between 16 and 17

Lyndsey has always wanted to visit Vietnam and Thailandand friends and family have rallied together to try to make her wish come true. Jade said: “We are hoping to raise as much as we can because then I feel I have helped her, I haven’t just sat back and watched everyone else help and not felt part of it.”

On Monday 16th July 2012 Jade Maw, Lennox Watts, Nicole Rose, Ashley Hardiman-James, Lucy Halpin, Harry Trinder, Laura Mann, Simon Major, Eve McMurray, Alix Climo, Craig and Calum Maw (jade’s 10 yr old brother) started there walk/run from Tower Park Basingstoke…

Despite the rain everyone was full of smiles, everyone joined in the warm up of jogging on the spot star jumps etc… Full of energy

A few decided to start of running and the rest walked…..  They walked from Basingstoke – Overton – Whitchurch – Andover the rain was constant all day and the roads that they had to take were very dangerous lots of cars and lots of bends.. But spirits stayed very high..

Through the day there was lots of singing and laughter, fun had by all.. the last few miles things got a little quitier.. But as everyone reached Town Park Andover soaking wet, dirty and tired the noise and cheers returned….

The day was a great success, Well Done  x
